India’s iron ore valued more than INR 18k crores in January-July period

As per the recently released official data by India’s Ministry of Mines, country produced INR 18,396 crores worth of iron ore during the first seven months of this calendar year.

In January, iron ore’s contribution to the total value of mineral production was INR 2,657 crores. The following month the contribution was INR 2,763 crores. In March, it was INR 2,960 crores, April (INR 2,870 crores), May (INR 2,551 crores), June (INR 2,526 crores) and INR 2,069 crores in July, according to Ministry of Mines.

Furthermore, during the period of January-July in 2017, the domestic iron ore production was 121.1 million tonnes, up by 12% from 108.2 million tonnes, in the corresponding period of last year. In the month of July, iron ore output saw an uptick of 18% from last year to 13.6 million tonnes.
