US steel imports jumped by 17.3% till November

According to the figures of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US has imported 35.6 million tonnes of steel till November this year, a 17.3% jump compared to the same period in 2016. This import figure includes 27.6 million tons of finished steel, which saw a hike of 14.3% from last year.

In November, the US imported 2.7 million tonnes of steel, which was down 14.6% compared to October but up 17.5% year-over-year.

Overall, the steel imports captured 25% of the US market share in November, and have 27% of the market share through the end of November.
