CIROM: Romanian cement market growth muted at 2%

30th April 2018

Romania’s cement association, CIROM, expects the country’s cement market to show only modest growth in 2018.

“We are not very optimistic about the cement market in 2018. We estimate an increase of about two per cent, because the non-residential works are few and the infrastructure, if some of the work is done is good,” says Mihai Rohan, president of CIROM.

In 2017 Romania’s cement demand expanded by 6.6 per cent to 8.4Mt. The country has seven cement plants, operated by Holcim, HeidelbergCement and CRH Romania. Local output is supplemented by imports, mainly from Turkey and Ukraine.
